Give me Liberty, or Give me Corpseman!

The proverbial “As American as Apple Pie” conjures up a lot of images. I’m not speaking of the wholesome images of a fresh-baked pie cooling on the window sill that harkens to days gone-by. Instead, I am referring to the fruit illustrated in the Bible that Eve shared with Adam. In that moment of our primordial parents’ first bite, we all fell captive to Original Sin—a sin so elemental that we hardly realize what it is until we see it’s results.

Millennia later, the courageous forefathers and founding fathers of this nation fought their epic campaign against the mighty and invincible British Empire and eventually, quite miraculously, won the battle. That allowed us as Americans to live in freedom with our own Constitution.

Since that time, America has been a beacon to the free world and an aspiration of those who love liberty and pursuit of the happiness all around the globe. Unfortunately, an insidious apple seed was sown along with that courageous fight for self-determination. It was perceived as a necessity to build the newly formed country, but it became a scar on the nation for generations to come. It was the seed of slavery. At the time, it may not have seemed all that different from other Western nations. In fact, many, if not all great cultures that had gone before had employed slavery as a means of subduing a population and building the empire’s wealth. The Egyptians, Greeks, and Romans, among others, all did the same. Perhaps the argument can be made that they all perished from it as well.

Although there was an attempt to abolish the seed during the American Civil War, the real fight was waged during the Civil Rights Movement throughout Twentieth Century. All sorts of civil entitlements were enacted ostensibly on behalf of these so-called underprivileged classes of this nation. The tradition continued through Congressional Pork or Earmarks which are used by both parties to these days. Many of these programs purport to benefit the needy, but consider the possibility that what they really do is to create more and more dependency and offer less and less freedom. Ironically, the very movements that purported to right the wrong of slavery have ended up enslaving even more. Although I agree there are some legitimate necessities, especially when it comes to essential goods and services being provided, this necessity is being lost in the shuffle of the corrupt use of the public funds.

The so-called Civil Rights Movement became extremely successful, so much so that we have now officially elected a President who is one of the very embodiments, Affirmative Action. He succeeded passing the historic Healthcare Bill into the law that vastly enlarges and extends the entitlements that were originally put in place in a misguided attempt to “level the playing field.” From my perspective, however, all these entitlements are doing is perpetuating the seed, slavery, and dependency on the Government, the Slave Master. If we don’t wake up, our esteemed President and Congress will attempt to pass another amnesty immigration bill to expand and prolong the slavery forever and ever!

During our visit to Washington DC to protest against the passage of the Healthcare Bill last month, I had a chance to talk to our Congressmen. I told them I was originally from South Korea and I am accustomed to the politicians being bribed. In Korea, however, the politicians were bribed by private concerns with private money. Here, the politicians use the people’s money to bribe each other. To be honest with you, I don’t know which one is worse. But, I know this: in Korea, the illegitimate regime that took massive private bribes was overthrown by force. Here in America, we don’t even recognize what is becoming of our nation. We all are getting used to and numbed by this epic proportions of the American Entitlement sugar pie—so much so that we think it is as American as Apple Pie to bite into a piece of Entitlement Pie. One day, we will all wake up from the paralyzed dream stance and realized we don’t have our country, America, not to mention Apple Pie. We all can now believe the change we hoped in November, 2008. The reality is that there will be no pie or no soup for us anymore!

I don’t know about you. But, where I came from, we have Dear Leader Kim Jung Il. Here in America, we have Our (Dear Reader) Barak Hussein Obama who can’t even speak to 5th graders unless he’s reading off of a teleprompter. His continued reckless spending on projects that will drive our deficit beyond any hope of repayment is proof of the axiom that Tiny Government is Liberty, but Titanic Government is Tyranny and it will sink us all. Forbid it, Almighty God! I know not what course others may take; but as for me, give me Liberty, or Give me Corpseman!
