Our Father in heaven, God of all Creation: You have blessed America; have her filled with your riches and abundance that flows from pasture land to fruited plains, from green valleys to purple mountains, and from sea to shining sea. You have provided this place with your showers and light. The hills sing with joy; the meadows are covered with flocks; the fields deck themselves with wheat and barley; and together they glorify your name!
In this season of our Thanksgiving, we as a nation take rest from our labors to ponder your many blessings. We thank you for our independence, the land of freedom and liberty, especially for those God-fearing warriors, our sons and daughters for their self-sacrifice in the battlefields who keep this nation secure, independent, and free. We pray for Lord’s protection and providence upon them just like Joshua’s army was sheltered from his adversaries by your strong shield, high tower, and mighty fortress.
We are so grateful for the opportunity to contribute our skills according to our individual abilities and incomparable attributes. Yet, we remember those who are less fortunate than us. We lift you up in prayer to those who have less and find themselves in unfortunate circumstances today. We particularly think of those who are without employment. Bless them Father. Renew their hope and provide for them. Show us how we can do something useful with our own hands, that we may have the fruits of our labor to share with those in need and our gifts to minister to others.
Give us your guidance, O Father God, and empower us for your work. For we declare nothing for ourselves, but return all honor and glory unto you, and offer our thanks and praise. Let the word that goes forth from our mouths speak of your blessing, and let us proclaim the good news of Christ as Savior of us all. We pray that you will bless all those who gather here Thanksgiving Day, as we have come to experience your presence among us. In the name of The Christ Jesus we pray, amen.
